My New Resolutions

Well, you don't need the New Year to have resolutions.

To want to have resolutions, is to want improvement in different aspects of your life.

In order to better yourself, you need the correct methodology.

To know exactly the whats and how-tos , you need to first understand yourself.

These are some of the things that I learnt about and understood about myself over the past few weeks.

1.

I am only 19 this year, and as time goes by, I feel like I don't know myself after all. I realised everyday is a learning process. It is really quite interesting to explore your senses and find out more about yourself. Understanding makes you think and you begin to challenge yourself. And this often always leads to more learning, and deeper understanding. It's a cycle! (oh wow)

I want to understand myself better and I am going to do so by taking note of important things going through my mind every now and then. Rants, musings, anything. I guess it's important and probably to keep a record of the things I learnt so I can learn more!

2.

I love books! It's amazing how easily I forget the thrill books can bring me when I was young. It used to be Enid Blyton, The Baby-sitters Club, Nancy Drew and (how can i possibly forget!)Sweet Valley Series. It ain't Shakespearean, but I was and still is a bookworm, and I'm darn proud of it. I love non-fiction books. I want to know anything and everything.

I want to get my hands on non-fiction books that I am interested in and read everything about the topics. It's better to understand a topic in-depth than to know a little of everything. You learn new topics in-depth, you read more, you gain more knowledge, you learn new vocab. What's there to lose? 1 or 2 new books a month would be a good investment.

3.

I love theatre and performing arts. Period. (haha)

I love the drama, and I can feel the passion in me. Even in long draggy Shakespeare. It's really fascinating to delve into the scriptwriters' heart and to learn the themes within. They say that the stage is like life. You go through life of the characters, their ups and downs, their joy and laughter, their pain, sorrow and tears with your expressions. You inteprete what the scriptwriters sought to express. You ignite the life and fire in the characters very much like how an author shapes a character and story of a book.

I want to be myself. I want to sing, dance, prance around and do whatever I wanna do. I do not need people to tell me what to do. But perhaps I need some guidance here and there(:

If only we can do anything we want!(:
